Meeting Minds is a programme of events for Oxford alumni, featuring live talks, panel discussions, tours, and networking opportunities. This year’s event will take place from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 September 2025.

Kellogg College is delighted to be hosting four panel sessions on Saturday 20 September at the Hub, open to both Kellogg and wider University of Oxford alumni. You are welcome to attend any one or more of our discussions, which will explore the topics of evidence-based medicine, architecture, creative writing and urban environments.

Kellogg alumni can also enjoy a 50% discount using the code KELLOGG50 at checkout. Please note that this year we have moved to an ‘all-day’ ticketing model, allowing attendees to purchase either a day or weekend ticket and then select the sessions they would like to attend within that ticket.

Panel 1: 30 years of Evidence-based Medicine at Oxford

9.30am – 10.30am The Hub

A discussion outlining the 30-year journey at the Centre for Evidence-based Medicine at Oxford (CEMB), starting with the evidence cart and the era of CD-ROMs, and progressing to the current era of big data and artificial intelligence. Throughout the years, the mission of the CEBM has remained constant: to develop, teach, promote and disseminate enhanced evidence for healthcare.

Panel 2: The Mechanics of Beauty

11am – 12pm The Hub

An exploration of recent investigations in geometric proportion, neuroscientific research and data collection methodologies measuring our perception of and the cognitive impacts of the built environment.

Panel 3: Character Assassination

1.30pm – 2.30pm The Hub

Three Kellogg authors will examine questions such as: to what extent is character vital to genre fiction? When and why have we used real-life individuals (and places such as Oxford) alongside our fictional creations? And in what ways has our experience as teachers and students of Creative Writing enabled us to become better, braver writers ourselves?

Panel 4: Creating Healthy Cities

4.30pm-5.30pm The Hub

Join us for an inspiring discussion marking the launch of a new chapter in collaborative research between long-standing partners, The King’s Foundation and the Global Centre on Healthcare and Urbanisation (GCHU) at Kellogg College. The panel will unveil an innovative research initiative focused on health and well-being, harnessing the unique setting of Highgrove House and Gardens. Together, GCHU and The King’s Foundation aim to build a robust evidence base for creating sustainable, healthy places that support vibrant, everyday living.
